In Tokyo, three lionesses tragically succumbed to the intense heat, underscoring the vulnerabilities faced by wildlife in urban environments. The deaths mark a grim reminder of how climate change is not just an abstract concept but a pressing reality that endangers life.
The Tokyo Zoo reported that the lionesses, aged between six and eight, faced extreme heat stress as temperatures soared to unprecedented heights. With the mercury hovering around 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in some areas, the conditions were untenable for these majestic creatures.
